About Us
Maritime Steel Foundry is a modern steel foundry located in Nova Scotia, Canada. We cast high and low alloy and manganese steel for the rail, mining, earth engaging, marine, and industrial markets. Founded in 1902 we have a long history of providing engineered solutions for our customer base.

The plant is dedicated to continuous improvement in plant, process, and customer service. Safety, quality, and environmental preservation are givens for the people that make up our steel foundry.

Our production facility has gone through a number of recent modernizations with the addition of modern induction furnaces; (2 X 5000 lbs) numerically controlled machining equipment, thermal sand reclamation, Kloster molding equipment, two new heat treat furnaces and quench tank, Magmasoft simulation, Solid Works and Synchro management software.

Our foundry is M1003 certified by the American Association of Railroads, ISO9001-2000 certified by QMI, have scored well on numerous customer audits, and are a preferred supplier to many.

We produce castings from 5 to 3500 lbs, utilizing a modern metals laboratory, with an up to date Spectrolab spectrometer, and tensile test equipment, with three metallurgists on staff.

Some of the major products we produce for the mining and earth engaging industries include scarifier shanks and teeth, links, crawler pads, ripper and bucket teeth, sprockets, chain links, shackles, idler wheels, crusher segments, hammers, bolsters, sprockets, latch bars, articulated pins, spherical rings and ring seats, and other wear parts.

Railcar castings include centre plates, yokes, pins, rings and ring seats, locks, draft lugs, follower blocks, collars, draft stops, man ways covers, and other casting in our size range.

Marine castings include chain links, engine parts, clevis, pins, anchors and parts, container corner castings, bedsteads and the like.

General industrial casting produced for the power generation industry include products like steel wheels, sheaves, crane drums, large elbows, drive gears, and gear segments..
